An ask, made whilst dissecting the chaotic beauty of a piece of political writing:
write out a wandering reflection that lands on the sentence discussed: “But how much control does he really have?”
If perhaps the suggestion before me is that I should perform this exercise within the confines of the referenced article, then I must respectfully decline; for I am neither informed, nor do I care enough to be informed about political narratives, save the irony that it was I myself that introduced it to begin with.
Suffice it to say, to find a voice in such matters, one must be in possession of the currency to have a voice in such matters.
Still, if there is a remote possibility that the original request might tolerate a prose from a perspective so disparate, so disconnected from the former, that it can barely be called a tangent, then there just might be some semblance to progress in the endeavour. After all, none was mandated, as far as one could tell.
The first order of business would be to assume – quite unremarkably – the gender of the one making the request, which in this specific case would work better as that of a man.
And if such a notion could be entertained, then we might pivot to the fact that he cannot possibly have known how his request would pan out – nor could he have guessed the fact that I’m writing this response from a terribly inconvenient convenience; a phone.
But, then again, how much control does he really have?
